I REIN FOR REIN

hello! 

lately i have been obsessed with a japanese band from the 80's called i rein for rein but there is barely any information on the band online! that really sucks because i love their music and i really want to know more about them. so this blog post is going to compile everything i know about the band into one place.

so for starters the name. most commonly known as 'i rein for rein' sometimes spelt ' i re'in for re'in ' (why the apostrophes? - i have no clue). or by the japanese translation [ アイリーン・フォーリーン ], anyways they are also known as irene foreen which im guessing is just i rein for rein but spelt in a different way? still not 100% aure what it means but there are a couple blog posts about i rein for rein under that name.

they started in 1984 with five members - takaaki yasuoka (vocals and keyboard), asao hori (vocals and guitar), isao kuwamoto (bass), itsuo nakagoshi (drums), and yoshiaki arisawa (guitar). together they made their first three albums 'plastic generation' in 1985, 'romantic' in 1986 and then 'i rein for rein' in 1987. 

after their third album in 1988, three of the members (yoshiaki arisawa, itsuo nakagoshi and isao kuwamoto) decided to leave the group. thus leaving takaaki yasuoka and asao hori alone. but not for long! as new guitarist hirokazu ogura joined the group. 

anyways, in 1988 i rein for rein released their fourth album 'body & voice' as a trio and it had a waaaaaaay different vibe to their previous three albums. as their first three albums were city pop and this is very much a cool r&b type of thing. personally i prefer the 1984-1986 run but that's just me.

even though the group broke up in 1988, they reunited (im not sure who reunited - wether it was the original five or the newer three or a mixture) and created a new album called 'big! bang!! boom!!!' in 2008 and it is on itunes and i cant find much about this or well any of their albums in fact.
